Kora Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2018

New Zealand makes some of the world’s most mouthwatering, lip-smacking Sauvignon Blanc. The best come from Marlborough, like this crisp beauty from the gorgeous Wairau River estate and the pioneering Rose family (who were among the first to plant grapes here over 30 years ago).

Rose family patriarch Phil makes such seriously tongue-tingling ‘Sauvys’ that the Marlborough wine industry awarded him a Lifetime Achievement Award. Top critic Sam Kim is certainly a fan – he’s rated previous vintages of Phil’s popular Kora 91 points, and once called it “a fabulous expression of the variety.” Look for more of the same zippy-fresh, citrusy class in this just-released 2018 edition.

Phil sourced the grapes from a few estate vineyards, located on the northern side of the Wairau Valley. The results in the glass are classic New Zealand Sauvignon, with lifted aromas of ripe gooseberries, freshly cut grass and tropical fruits. The palate is fresh and generous, with explosively crisp flavors of lime and guava. Also look for hints of flinty stone on the finish (a hallmark of premium Marlborough Sauvignon).
